Obituary for Durward Lee Freeman

Durward Lee Freeman, 81, Bloomington, IN went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Durward was born January 26, 1938 in Greene County, IN the son of Virgil Paul and Mary Lois (Coster) Freeman.

Durward spent 37 1/2 years with Colonial Baking Co. and 21 years with the City of Bloomington Utilities Department, retiring at the age of 81. He was a member and usher at St. Paul United Methodist Church.

He loved tractors, was a New York Yankee fan and especially loved spending time with his family. His family said he is now telling jokes in Heaven, he loved to make people laugh and he never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Janice (Pershing) Freeman; son, Christopher L. Freeman of Bloomington, IN; daughter, Kimberly Freeman of Bloomington, IN; step-father, Roger Sparks of Bloomington, IN; sisters, Judy (Ron) Freeman of Owen County, IN, Patty and Becky Freeman, both of Bloomington, IN, and Lisa (Kevin) Anderson of Bloomington, IN; sister-in-law, Sondra Francisco of Bloomington, IN; great nephews, Oakley, Kelan, Layton and Braylen Scroggins, all of Bloomington, IN; great niece, Isabella Young of Bloomington, IN; several wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rick and Ronnie Freeman and his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019. at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN and after 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019 at St. Paul United Methodist Church 4201 W. Third St. Bloomington, IN, Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens Bloomington, IN.
