Obituary for Marion Shirley Powell (Sharp)

Marion S. Powell, 85, of Bloomington passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Bell Trace Health and Living Center in Bloomington.
Born, February 17, 1934 in Hammond, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Anna Murl (White) Sharp.
Marion enjoyed teaching 33 years at Unionville Elementary School, retiring in 1996. She created more than 300 handmade, individual stuffed bears as rewards for a reading program for her students.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Richard L. Powell, children, Margaret "Maggie" Pearson (Greg) of Springville, Elizabeth "Liz" Piekarczyk (Dan) of Snoqualmie, Washington, Victoria "Tori" Powell (Steve) of Conway, Arizona, and Richard "Rick" Powell (Kim) of Bloomington, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, sister, Laura Fenstermaker (Larry) of Loudon, Tennessee, and brother, Jack Sharp (Linda) of Huntley, Illinois.
Visitation will be 4-7pm Friday, July 12, 2019 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Saturday at The Funeral Chapel with Allen Ketchersid officiating. Burial will follow at Little Union Cemetery in Unionville.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Southern Care Hospice, 1923 S. Liberty Dr. Bloomington, IN 47403.
