Obituary for Ronald Eugene Brinegar

Ronald Eugene Brinegar, 78, of Bloomington, was born in Monroe County on March 8, 1941 to Robert and Edith (Stevens) Brinegar. He passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. Ronnie is remembered as a great athlete at Bloomington High School where he earned 11 varsity letters. His favorite coach was Keith Rhodes. Their basketball team went to the state finals in 1960. Ronnie married his high school sweetheart Dee (Deloris Ann Funkhouser) in 1960. They went on to have four wonderful sons, Tony, Mark, Jody and Jay.
Ronnie had many occupations though out his life. He was retired from the City of Bloomington Fire Department, where he had many lifelong friends. He had many interests and hobbies, including collecting stamps, refinishing antique furniture, and collecting pictures of racecars and drivers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sons Anthony Scott (Tony) Brinegar, and Jay Eric Brinegar. Sisters Sandra Gobert and Meredith Warner. Brother Gary Brinegar.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Dee, sons Mark Lee Brinegar, and Ronald Joe (Jody) Brinegar (Lori). Grandchildren Patrick Brinegar, Charlotte Reed, Christopher Brinegar (Marie), Erika Brinegar, Jacob Brinegar, and Adam Brinegar. Great-grandchildren Zaidee Brinegar, Trevor Brinegar, Emmerick Brinegar and Griffyn Reed, many cousins nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Ronnie will be on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, and on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 2:00 pm until service time.
Services will be 3 pm Wednesday at The Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold Godsey officiating.
