Obituary for Kathryn Moser

Kathryn, Kate (Mammy) Moser, peacefully passed in her sleep on Sunday, August 25th, 2019. She was born March 15th, 1928, in Monroe County, to Grace (Shields) and Cecil Hawkins. Growing up in Sanders, Indiana, she attended Sanders Pentecostal Church. In her early years she worked as a waitress at Bruce’s Café; at their family business, Bloomington Key and Cycle; and as a nursing aid at the Bloomington Convalescent Center.
She was the oldest daughter of the family and is survived by her only remaining sibling, Beulah “Boots” Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ernie, Edward, Ermil, Billie, and Burt. She lost her first husband, Russell Deckard Jr. in 1956 and in 1959 she married Walter Moser to whom she remained married until his passing in 1982. She was preceded in death by her only son, Dennis Ray Moser, in 1998.
She is survived by daughters Sandra (Philip) Nowak and Kathie (Greg) Johnson; grandchildren Tara (Ronald) Doyon, Colin Troy (Tara Ryan), Nickolas (Brittany) Moser, Zachary (Kylie) Johnson, Katie Johnson (LeeAnna Freeman), and Cole Johnson (friend Alyssa and son Noah); great grandchildren Mary Kathryn and Caroline Doyon, Kennedy Johnson , Ava and Everett Moser, and many other friends and extended family members.
Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Ben Wright on Wednesday, August 28th, 2019, at 2pm, at Mt. Ebal Cemetery in Bloomington.
