Dear Jack, Joy and Hillary- I was so deeply saddened to learn of Eunice's passing. I first met Eunice at Rondout Valley when I was a "novice" Spanish teacher who had been hired to fill the position she had vacated to become a stay at home mom. Fortunately, our paths crossed again at Fair Street Nursery School when my daughter, Denise, introduced me to her new "best" friend, Hillary Kahn. Eunice and I spent time doing typical preschool Mom activities. Several years later, it was my privilege to be her colleague for 15 years at the YWCA of Ulster County where Eunice served as Director of the Teen Parents Services. In this capacity, she was a recognized leader and advocate who worked tirelessly on behalf of the young parents and their children. During this time we shared many personal moments regarding our children's educational endeavors, weddings, happy times and some challenging times. Always above all, Eunice was most proud of her family. Dick and I extend our sincerest sympathy to all of you.

I am so sad to hear of Eunice's passing. She was a very loving person and an inspiration to me. I enjoyed working with her at the SeniorNet office and learning from her. I still miss her and Jack. Love to you Jack, and to Joy and Hillary and the rest of the family.

I knew Eunice from her social service work in Ulster County. She was a compassionate and strong advocate who was so highly respected and loved by all. We need more people like her and Jack. Please extend my condolences to Jack who was an equal partner in caring for our community.

Eunice was a very special person in my life. She was like an older sister on whom I could count for both personal and professional advice and I called on her often. She was my first social work mentor who hired me to work on her staff as a Teen Parents Counselor. She always allayed my parenting concerns and showed me by her stellar example what it meant to be a loving, devoted and generous parent. For that matter, both Eunice and Jack functioned in that capacity for both me and my husband, Rich. Together we shared many wonderful dinners, concerts, plays and a couples book club. Eunice started the tradition of making predictions each New Year’s Eve for the year ahead and then opening them the following year at our annual January meeting. She enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest. Although she has left us, she will always live on in my heart as a wise woman who felt strongly and acted on her beliefs. Our hearts go out to Joy, Hillary and most of all to Jack her life partner. With love, Linda and Rich Cooper

We are so heartbroken to hear about Eunice's passing and pray you all find strength during this difficult time. While living in the Hudson Valley, my parents Brigitte and Manuel San Jose always had fond memories with Eunice and Jack and cherished their friendship. The few times I met your parents, they left me smiling with their humor and kindness. I pray you have many fond memories of your Mom (and of your beloved wife) to carry you through. My deepest condolences to you all.

Sincerely,

Carmen San Jose and Family
