Obituary for Laura Lou Russ (Ward)

Laura Lou (Ward) Russ, 88, Bloomington, Indiana, went to be with the Lord, September 29, 2019 at Brown County Health & Living in Nashville, Indiana. Laura was born on November 19, 1930 in Bloomington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Thomas M. and Ethel (Fleener) Ward.
Laura was an active member of the New Unionville Baptist Church and worked at Kenlawn Greenhouse later in life. Laura will always be remembered for her amazing cooking and baking, as well as her time spent in the greenhouse and the beautiful flowers she would grow and arrangements she would make.
Laura is survived by three grandchildren, Heather (James) Purtlebaugh of Bloomington, IN, Christina Settle of Bedford, IN, and Chad (Emily) Russ of Bloomington, IN; six great-grandchildren, Morgan Settle, Adam Vibbart, Hannah Purtlebaugh, Matthew Vibbart, Jacob Purtlebaugh and Evelyn Russ; two great-great grandchildren, Ayden May and Bryson Settle. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Russ, July 27, 2019 and her son, Kevin Lee Russ, April 5, 2018; sister, Lonita Charles; two brothers, Lowell and Thomas L. Ward.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Boomington, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at The Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Maurice Wright officiating. Burial, Valhalla Memory Gardens, Bloomington, IN.
