Absalom Fay Williams Ph.D., 78, passed away peacefully in his home November 30, 2019. A native of Martin County and Huron High School class of 1959, Absalom attended Purdue University where he received a doctorate in Biology specializing in plant genetics and met the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Joyce. While raising their family, Absalom taught at Roger Williams College in Rhode Island, returned to Indiana to care for his parents and their farm and eventually settled in Bloomington, Indiana where he most recently retired from Ivy Tech Community College after many joyful years of teaching biology. A life-long learner, Absalom loved to read, write and experiment in the sciences and instilled that sense of wonder about the world in his children and grandchildren. Absalom was a faithful member and retired deacon of the Southern Hills Church of Christ.
Survivors include sons, Adam and Daniel Williams; daughter, Mary Ellen (Williams) Ulmet; sister, Ann (Williams) Hogston and family; son-in-law Thomas Ulmet and three grandchildren, Justice, Autumn and Marvel Ulmet, who added so much joy to his waning years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce in 2014 and cherished daughter, Dove (Williams) Boone in 2016.
Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Southern Hills Church of Christ, 1030 W. Country Club Drive, Bloomington, IN 47403
Services will be 1:00 pm Friday at the church with Brother Pat Arthur officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Williams, IN.

Our hearts go out to Mary Ellen and Thom, and their children, Justice, Autumn and Marvel. We are so sorry you have to experience this loss. Mr. Williams had to have been a most remarkable man to have produced such a wise, strong, and beautiful daughter. And, he also continued the goodness and wisdom with his grandchildren. You are all in our prayers.
