Obituary for Patricia "Patty" Green Lawhead
Patricia “Patty” Green Lawhead, 88, of Bloomington, Indiana went home to her Heavenly Father, surrounded by family, Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Patty was born in Edwardsport, Indiana on March 24, 1931.
She was a graduate of Edwardsport High School. Patty worked at Sarkes Tarzian and then later at Crosstown & Lakeside IGA stores, which were owned by she and her husband Floyd Green in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. Following his death she worked at Cook.
Patty was a member of Little Union Baptist Church. Patty loved watching and attending IU men’s basketball and Pacer games.
Patty is survived by her son Larry (Lisa Dillon) and daughter Jana (Jeff) Gilbertson. She was the very proud grandmother to grandson Laramie Green and granddaughter Lanae (Ian) Cage and her great grandsons Gannon and Hunter Cage. She is also survived by step children Michelle Namanny, Milinda Lawhead, Milissa Campbell, Bryan Lawhead and several step-grand and great grandchildren all of Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Floyd Green; second husband, Ernest Lawhead; grandson Brett Gilbertson; sister, Delores Dugans; nephew, Benny Dugans; and niece, Sherry Combs.
Visitation for Patty will be on Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington and Friday, December 13, 2019 from 10:00 am until service time at Little Union Baptist Church 5511 N. Brummetts Creek Road Bloomington.
Services will be 11:00 am Friday at Little Union Baptist Church. Patty’s son-in-law Jeff Gilbertson will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Little Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patty’s memory to the American Heart Association or Monroe County Humane Association.
