Frank Lee Owens, age 91, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Gentry Park in Bloomington. He was born on June 30, 1928 in Bloomington. Frank was in the Honor Society at Bloomington High School, where he also ran track and won state twice. After high school, he ran track at Indiana University, winning Nationals as a junior, and eventually becoming a 50 year letterman. Frank graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business. He served in the United States Air Force for four years, where he worked in accounting. He was an officer in the Air Force, being stationed in Ogden, Utah, San Antonio, Texas, and Panama City, Florida. After serving in the Air Force, Frank began trucking with his father, and then started a career as a real estate agent. Frank was a long time member of North Central Church of Christ in Bloomington, where he greatly enjoyed teaching Sunday School.
Frank is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marilyn (Herrin).
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Hazel, Mildred, May, and Faye, and two brothers, James and Press .
There will be a gathering of friends and family from 12:30 PM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2019 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana
A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM at The Funeral Chapel.
