Obituary for Deloris "Jean" Bruce

Deloris “Jean” Bruce left this world to be reunited with her husband, Richard, in heaven on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at her home.
She was born on June 22, 1939 in Monroe County, Indiana to the late Clarence Leon Cain and Mary Louise (Clark) Cain.
Jean married Richard Dale Bruce, Sr. on October 12, 1954 in Kurtz, Indiana and they have four sons, Dale (Rita) Bruce, Scott (Roberta) Bruce, Curtis (Sherryl) Bruce, and Michael (Sharla) Bruce, all from this area.
Jean is survived by her four sons, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Joyce (Chuck) Snyder of Nashville, Indiana; a brother, Clarence Leon Cain, Jr.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandparents, Albert and Minnie (Deckard) Cain and Ambrose and Ida Mae (Brown) Clark; and a brother, Richard Lee Cain.
Jean was a member of the Christian Tabernacle Church and also attended Victory Worship Center. She was a co-founder of the Monroe County CB Club (her handle being “Little Rockpicker”); former board member of the Richland-Bean Blossom Family Store; Lifetime Member of the Good Sam Tri-County Chapter 81 camping club; was on the committee for the writing of the book “Elkinsville, Indiana The Town that Was; and was a long-time volunteer member of RSVP Ellettsville and Owen County Garden Club (coordinator for Owen County Perennial Exchange).
In her earlier years, she was a cake decorator at Highland IGA, and later did food demos at Marsh and Kroger.
Jean always had a passion for flowers, which showed in her beautiful flower gardens around her yard.
Services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana, with pastor Justin Rains officiating.
Visitation is at The Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 20 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Methodist Cemetery in Ellettsville.
