Walter F. Grubb, 90, of Stinesville, Indiana passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 at Bloomington Hospital.
Born, May 18, 1929 in Monroe County, he was the son of the late James Floyd and Martha (Cain) Grubb.
Walter married his high school sweetheart, Esther Hacker, April 24, 1948. They lived on their farm of 50 years in Stinesville.
Walter retired from Griffith Motor Express and Farm Bureau Co-op. During his early retirement he drove a school bus for Spencer-Owen Community Schools and RBBCSC.
He enjoyed being a farmer throughout his life. He was most often found tending his cattle or bailing hay. He made many friendships throughout his life. He also enjoyed restoring antique tractors which he was proud to display in parades and tractor shows. He was someone who never met a stranger and enjoyed a conversation under the shade tree. He loved to tell stories, joke and laugh. He had an infectious laughter that will never be forgotten.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Esther (Hacker) Grubb, one son, Daniel Grubb (Marlita) of Stinesville, one daughter, Kathy Ogles (William) of Spring Hill, TN; two granddaughters, Lori Breeden (Toby) of Gosport, Mandi Ayers (Nick) of Spring Hill, TN; two great grandsons, Tyler Breeden and Tyler Ayers. Walter is also survived by two sisters, Gladys Gilliland and Gwendolyn Goodwin (Mark), two brothers, Kenneth Grubb and James Grubb, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Beulah Crouch.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Thursday, February 27, 2020 and 1-2pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel with Mike Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery in Spencer.

So deeply saddened to hear of Walts passing. we met close to 20 years ago as a simple camping neighbor at Leaverton Park for the Labor Day weekend and ended up keeping in touch . Walt was one of a kind. We would make trips over to see them as often as we could. i’m so thankful we made the trip over this fall and he was out moving hay to the barn. He knew exactly who we were as we walked up .. Walt , it was a pleasure camping next to you and becoming lifelong friends. Rest in Peace Buddy! Our Sympathies to Esther and Dan and the rest of the family we heard so often about. Doug and Sonia Bonnell
