Obituary for Betty Bernice Blessing

Betty Bernice (Binder) Blessing, age 85, formerly of Bedford, IN passed away on February 25, 2020 after a courageous battle following a stroke she suffered in November 2016. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born in Mt Prospect, Illinois to Grace (Ryerson) and Eugene Frederick Binder and along with her older sister Patricia Binder Neff, they enjoyed many happy years at their country and in-town residences in Barrington Illinois.
Betty graduated from Barrington HS in 1952 and received her bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College in 1957, where she was a theatrical arts major. There she met the love of her life William C. Blessing, and they were married in 1958.
They were blessed with 3 children; Lisa (Dave) Hobbs, Thomas Blessing, and Todd (Laura) Blessing, 7 grandchildren; Danielle (Derek) Bifulco, Nick Hobbs, Josh Hobbs, Connor Blessing, Catherine Blessing, Alexa Blessing, and Carly Blessing, and 2 great grandchildren J.D. and Cole Bifulco.
She was a homemaker for many years and raised her 3 children in Mt Prospect and Barrington IL, then started a new chapter in the 1970’s when they moved to Bedford IN where she and her husband started Master Rental Center in Bloomington IN and she managed the party goods store until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending winters in Florida soaking up the sun and sitting by the jetties watching the boats and wildlife with her loving husband. She was also an avid birdwatcher, as was evident by the many feeders she placed outside her winter and summer homes.
Betty is survived by her husband of 61 years William Blessing, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Betty’s wish was to be cremated. In lieu of funeral services, and to honor her we ask that all who wish to participate make a memorial contribution in her name. Please consider these organizations that were close to her heart:
