Patricia P. Brown
A woman of timeless grace and eternal beauty.

Patricia P. Brown, known and loved by many as Patty, passed peacefully March 13, 2020 in her Sarasota home with her loving husband, Bill C. Brown, at her side after a twenty-year journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Patty was 89.

Born Patsy Ruth Armstrong on September 27, 1930 to Lorene and Bernard Armstrong, Patty graduated from New Castle High School in 1948 and continued her education at Indiana University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Patty pursued her passion for teaching as a third grade teacher at Rogers Elementary School in Bloomington.

Patty met Bill Brown in June 1960 and they were married in the following year. For nearly 60 years, Bill and Patty made their home in Bloomington. Together they dedicated their lives to raising four children, traveling, entertaining, laughing, and enjoying the love and adoration of their ever-growing family. As Mom and our beloved MaMa Patty, she showered her family and friends with love, kindness, and generosity.

Patty was active in the Bloomington community. She was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and served local philanthropic and educational organizations including:
Tri Kappa, Bloomington Hospital Foundation, Ivy Tech Community College (Bloomington), and Indiana University Foundation.

Patty was a true friend and a woman of deep and unfailing faith. She gave tirelessly of herself supporting generations both old and young, passing on the importance of faith, family, and unconditional love.

Her dear friends recall Patty’s warm smile and gracious nature, always making time for others and opening her home with grace, sincerity and selflessness.

Patty is survived by her husband, Bill C. Brown and her four children: Claire Baker and Lisa Gonzalez of Carmel; Carol Remak (Ron) and Daniel Brown (Lynn) of Bloomington.
She is also survived by grandchildren: Sarah Illingworth (John); Emily Nocton (Kenny); Audrey Baker; Andrew Remak (Allie); Lara Bower (Mark); Parker Remak (Jamie); Daniel Moore(Cali), Griffin Gonzalez; Elly and Leo Brown.
Great-grandchildren: Charlie, Anne, and Jack Illingworth; Katherine, Grace, Henry, and Bennett Remak; Caroline, Claire, Anna, Andrew, Audrey and Charlotte Bower; Parker James Remak; and William Moore.

Patty was preceded in death by her first husband, Dwight Oscar “Ossie” Parker, Her parents, Bernard and Lorene Armstrong; Sister, Betty Henry, and Granddaughter, Christen Baker.

Her family expresses their heartfelt thanks and love to all who shared in life with their beloved Patty. We are forever grateful for her long-time caregivers, Edith Johnson and Anabel Ellis,Bloomington Hospice and Sarasota Hospice.
