Obituary for Marlene Kay Rice

Rev. Marlene K. Rice, 78, of Bloomington went through the pearly gates of Heaven to be forever with our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven on Friday, April 17, 2020.
She was born January 19, 1942, to Wayne R. Deckard and Lucille M. (Swango) Deckard. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She taught piano and organ and was also an organist at IU’s Beck Chapel for many years until she felt the call on her life to become a minister and prophet of God. She and her husband Bryan established the Pillar of Fire Tabernacle church. It was started in their garage and later established in Bedford and most recently a new church in Bloomington.
Marlene loved her family, and church family dearly. She was a dedicated Prophet of God, always putting God first in everything. She enjoyed her frequent trips with Bryan to Israel to walk where our Savior walked, and she enjoyed collecting anything that represented our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, Marla and Robert Haymaker of Mitchell and Cynthia and Daniel Hughes of Bloomington. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christina (Hughes) Green, A.J. Pittman, Daniel Hughes II, and Bryan Haymaker, four great-granddaughters, Adelynne Pittman, Juliana Hughes, Isabel Hughes, and Addison Hughes. One sister, Suzanne Walls of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan D. Rice, and her parents, Wayne Deckard and Lucille Deckard.
A private service for the immediate family will be Wednesday, April 22 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street with Rev. Don Christy officiating. Burial will follow at Cloverhill Cemetery.
