Obituary for Kevin D. Mimms Jr.
Kevin D. Mimms Jr. was called home to be with The Lord on Friday May 1, 2020. Salvation is our reward for completing our assignment here on earth, and Lil Kevin exceeded expectations, completing his mission in less time than most of us.
Kevin had a great love for children, beginning with his own, extending to all he met and he excelled at coaching and teaching life lessons and basketball to hundreds of boys and girls. Kevin loved them and the kids and their families loved him just as well.
Kevin turned his life to Christ at an early age, which gave him the foundation to give to others. Everyone whose life he touched, can share a story of him giving generously to those who had the least and needed the most. He was always humble when lending a helping hand to family and friends.
In addition to Coaching and teaching Kevin was an entrepreneur operating lawn mowing, snow plowing and home remodeling businesses along with several other ventures including catering.
Kevin leaves heartfelt memories to so many that it would be impossible to list them all, here are a few, his sons Kevin D. Mimms III, Kywin Mimms and Karsen Ladyman Daughters Amyiah Morgan and Kayla Mimms, Step-daughters Tiana and Alexis Prall. His loving Mother Elizabeth Burns, his brother and sister Charles and Alexis Pugh.
His Father Kevin Mimms Sr., Grandmother Ella Mimms, Step Mom Lynn Mimms, Step Brother Greg Street, Step Sister Carmen Street, A host of Aunts, Uncles, very special cousins, nieces, nephews, basketball team players, and great friends.
Kevin Jr. Was preceded in death by his maternal Grandmother Mary Burns, maternal Grandfather David Burns, and Paternal Grandfather Horace Mimms.
Services will be private.
A drive through, stay in your automobile procession will take place on Saturday, May 9th, 2020 from 1:15 pm until 2:15 pm at The Funeral Chapel, Powell and Deckard 3000 E. 3rd St. Bloomington, IN. Please enter the west entrance off of 3rd street and circle through the parking lot under the carport and back out to the stoplight. We ask that you not stop and get out of your cars.
A celebration of life memorial gathering for all who Kevin Jr. inspired will be at a later date.
