Obituary for Gary D. Clark

Gary D. Clark, 73, of Bloomington, IN, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his residence. Born October 25, 1946 in Bloomington, he was the son of Stanley H. and Freda A. (Shields) Clark.
Gary graduated from Bloomington High School in 1964.
He married Deborah L. (Allen) on September 28, 1968 and they would have celebrated 52 years of marriage this year.
Gary was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in 1966-67 with the 180th Assault Support Helicopter Company as a “Crew Chief Door Gunner.”
Gary drove a truck and belonged to the Teamsters for 32 years. He also worked for INDOT Highway Dept., followed by NAVFAC Crane and retired from there in 2014.
Gary and Deborah owned and operated Hinkles Hamburgers for 16 years, selling in 2019.
He was a Master Mason with Lodge 411, member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Gary loved sprint car racing and going to the dirt tracks.
Survivors include his wife Deborah L. (Allen), sons, Jeffery (Amanda) Clark and A.J. Clark. Granddaughter Haley Clark and Grandson Dillan Clark. Brother Greg (Barb) Clark, nephews Adam (Erica) Clark, B.J. (Marsha) Clark and great nephews Christian, Noble and soon to be Kaiden.
Gary was preceded in death by his son Scott A. Clark. His parents and grandparents Garland and Zella Clark and Eliza and Maryann Shields, mother-in-law and father-in-law Gib and Nancy Allen.
Visitation for Gary will be on Monday, May 18, 2020 from 2-7 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN. The Monroe County Veteran’s Honor Guard will have honors at 7:00 pm. Please note during the public visitation 25 people will be allowed in at a time. Please remember to practice social distancing.
