Obituary for Harold Dean "Bud" Perry

Harold Dean (Bud) Perry, age 87, died peacefully at his home and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2020.
Bud was born to Leland and Marie (Cardwell) Perry on October 4, 1932 in Harrodsburg, Indiana and graduated from Smithville High School. In 1952, he was blessed to marry his high school sweetheart, Joy Freeman, in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was stationed serving in the Navy during the Korean War.
Harold is survived by his wife, Joy, his twin sister, Carol (Raymond) Robertson of Harrodsburg, his children, Ron (Nancy) Perry, Kim (Steve) Carmichael, Brian (Donetta) Perry, and Lori (Kevin) Bucy all of Bloomington. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Kevin Perry, Jason (Colleen) Perry, Staci (Luke) Murphy, Reed (Emily) Carmichael, Joseph (Heather) Perry, Nick (Caitlin) Bucy, Alex Bucy, Allison (Chris) Marrs, Katelyn Bucy, Samuel Perry, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren, Chaz and Melody Perry, Aiden, Jackson, and Drew Perry, Mack and Perry Murphy, Bradford and Cameron Carmichael, Jacoby Perry, and Jack, Erin and Grant Bucy.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ernie, Lloyd and Russell Perry and his sister, Wilma Thrasher.
After serving in the Navy, Harold became a barber and was the owner/operator of the Ritz Barber Shop and then the Razor’s Image Barber shop. He dearly loved his faithful customers and several continued to come to his home for their haircuts many years after he sold his barber shops. Time away from the Barber Shop was spent caring for his rental properties, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and building cherished furniture pieces in his workshop. He was an avid basketball fan and enjoyed many special trips traveling with Joy and his many friends.
A member of the North Central Church of Christ since it was built on North Dunn Street in 1967, he served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon in his younger years and as a jovial greeter in the later years of his life.
