Obituary for Laura J. "Jean" Hulen (Balthus)
Laura Jeanette “Jean” Hulen, 91, of Bloomington went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 25, 2020 at her residence.
Born, October 10, 1928 in Vincennes, Indiana, she was the daughter of John and Elsie (Smith) Balthus.
Jean was a 1947 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and she worked in housekeeping at Indiana University.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed gardening and traveling with her daughters.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Vern W. Hulen, children, Donna Bagshaw (Patrick) of New Albany, Ronald Hulen (Tina) of Martinsville, Carolyn Wall of Bloomington, Marilyn Philpot (Jim) of Poland, and Brian Hulen of Bloomington, grandchildren, David Caudill, Michelle Caudill, Melissa Shirely, Ronnie Hulen, Richard Hulen, Nicole Hulen, Aaron Southern, Gregory Southern, and Nathanael Southern, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Monday, June 29, 2020 and 12-1pm Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel with Pastor Michael Magruder officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
