In 1958, Jack and Marilyn moved to Grosse Pointe, MI. It’s there where they raised their three children. Jack worked for his father-in-law, Richard Stebbins, who owned Stiles Food Brokerage Company in Detroit, MI. Eventually, he became the owner of that company. After retirement, he moved to Bloomington, IN, where he attended Living Waters Church. His last years, he lived with his son, Bruce.
He always enjoyed playing and teaching golf, bowling, sailing, going for walks, horseback riding, tennis and music. Music was his continual enjoyment in life. One of his big accomplishments was mastering Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. He wrote many songs, some for his family, some for the radio, some just for fun. Jack put Psalm 23, a favorite of his, to music. A few other songs were written with his son, Bruce. When his children were young, they went to bed hearing Dad playing the piano, hymns as well as other songs.
