Marjorie L. Deckard, age 90, passed away August 15, 2020 at the Meadowood Skilled Nursing Facility in Bloomington, Indiana. Born May 30, 1930, she was the daughter of Ross and Bernice Deckard. Margie began her work career doing the books for her dad’s trucking business, later she worked for the Bloomington accounting firm, Dieterele, Cincoski and Innis. She was the co-owner of Ella’s Lady shop with her sister-in-law in the 1970’s. Margie retired from working in the monographic processing department of the main library at Indiana University.
Margie was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. Her nieces and nephews have many fond memories of the tales she shared regarding the many mischievous escapades growing up with her brother and sister.
Margie is survived by her sister, Norma Hillenberg; sister-in-law, Jeannie Deckard; four nieces and nephews, whose lives were greatly enhanced by her presence, Debby Deckard, Deanilee Deckard, Jack Hillenberg and Pete (Karen) Hillenberg.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Bernice Deckard; sister, Mary Elizabeth Deckard; brother, Tommy Deckard and brother-in-law, Gordon Hillenberg.
Per Margie’s request, there will be no formal services; she will be laid to rest by her family at the Deckard Cemetery in Brown County in a private celebration of her life.
The family would like to acknowledge the care given to Margie by the Gentry Park Assisted Living Facility, the Meadowood Skilled Care Facility, Southern Care Hospice Services and the various Comfort Keepers Caregivers that assisted with her care during her extended illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Margie’s memory can be made to the Deckard Cemetery Association. Arrangements are in the care of The Funeral Chapel.
