Obituary for H. Robert Weddle

H. Robert (Bob) Weddle, peacefully past away, on September 28th, 2020, at the Hospice House in Bloomington. Living A long life at 98, he wanted so bad to make it to 100. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Doris Robertson Weddle, died in 2005 and were married for 59 years. His daughter Linda Jo Weddle of Terre Haute, passed away in 2018 and his parents Oscar and Elizabeth Weddle. Also, three grandchildren have passed Chris Key, wife( Deandra Kinser Key), Aaron Weddle, and Eric Schiffer.

Surviving family members Tom Weddle (Cheryl), of Bicknell, Janis Weddle of Bloomington. Grandchildren Kirsten Lawrence of Bicknell, Greg Key, Michael Key, Steven Key, Catherine Landis, and Bradley Pedro, of Terre Haute, and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Bob was a World War II Army Veteran, very proudly serving from 1942 to 1945 in the Philippines with the 27th Army Engineers. He was a member of the Bloomington American Legion Post 18 for 72 years. He also was a member of the Masons of Indiana, Monroe lodge # 22, for 53 years.

He was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian church. Bob worked at Ralph Rogers Construction Company for 39 years retiring in 1984. He was a supervisor working with many people in Bloomington building most of the old housing additions. He worked very closely with Howard and Rodney Young.

I.U. Football was one of his great passions, for 25 years. He had worked with the construction of the stadium at the time and they allowed him to pick his own seat in the stands before they were even numbered. Golfing was another love...and he was able to play until about 93 years of age. If you knew him, he always made you laugh and would always come up with something.

Services for Bob will be 1:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2020 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens where the Monroe County Veteran’s Honor Guard will have graveside rites.
Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 am until service time at The Funeral Chapel.
Masonic services will be on Friday at 11:30 am at The Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the IU Health Hospice House.
