Obituary for Debra Kay "Debby" (Inman) McKibben

On October 30, 2020, Debra (Debby) Kay Inman McKibben took her last earthly breath with her husband and daughter by her side and beheld heaven for the first time.

Debby was born on August 24, 1959 in Bloomington to Kermit and Mary Inman, who preceded her in death.

A 1977 Bloomington High School North graduate, she loved collecting Longaberger Baskets, scrapbooking, and shopping for crafts.

She married her husband, Larry, who survives, in 1989, and they had one daughter, Anissa Clarke (Billy) of Plano, Texas, who also survives.

During her 61 years, she was employed by Bender Lumber Company, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Mother Care, and Monroe County Government (Recorder’s Office and Clerk’s Office). She retired in 2018 after 25 years of service to Monroe County.

She was a member of the Bloomington Free Methodist Church where she volunteered for several children’s ministry events such as Vacation Bible School, and the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and an occasional member of the choir.

Debby was devoted to the youth of Monroe County for years, serving as a 4-H leader, working with the Queen Contest, serving on the fair board, and serving as a parent sponsor for the Hoosier Youth Philharmonic. For the latter, she led the Basket Bingo fundraisers, and volunteered for several other fundraisers for the organization.

She loved and was good at organizing parties, reunions, showers and other social events. She made an impact on many and seemed to know everybody from community theater events to softball games at Twin Lakes, to several members of the public whom she served while employed by the county.

Her greatest loves were her family, as she was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first grandchild, and her many friends with whom she spent countless hours dining, shopping and texting. She eagerly read updates about her friends and family on social media, rejoicing with good news, and grieving and praying for her friend’s struggles.

Visitation for Debby will be on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard and Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 9:30 am until service time.

Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, November 7, 2020 at The Funeral Chapel with Rev. Les Rovenstine officiating. Burial will follow at Carmichael Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomington Free Methodist Church.
