Obituary for Mark Evert Mitchner

Mark Evert Mitchner, 64, of Bloomington passed away Monday, November 9, 2020 at IU Health Hospital in Bloomington. Born March 20, 1956 in Bloomington, Indiana, Mark was the loving and devoted son of John Calvin and Doris Lucille (Marrs) Mitchner. Mark cherished and adored his two daughters, Rachel and Pam. His children consider him the best dad ever and the most remarkable grandfather. Mark was a patient caregiver to his mother, who he loved dearly. He was very involved with his family and placed a high priority on spending time with family and friends.

Mark worked for MCCSC where he was a custodian at Bloomington High School North and Hoosier Hills for 43 years. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Mark enjoyed hunting, canoeing and anything outdoors. Surviving are his mother, Doris Mitchner; two daughters, Rachel (Bill) Newton and Pam Mitchner-May (Heath May); brother, Mike (Linda) Mitchner; sister, Sonnie (Dan) Scherschel; five grandchildren, Isabella and Logan May and Liam, Jude and Beau Newton; eight nephews, four nieces, five great-nieces and five great-nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his father, John Mitchner.

Visitation will be from 10AM to noon on Friday, November 13, 2020 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard. Funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Borden officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church on Snoddy Road in memory of Mark.
