Shirley Ann Watkins, 82, of Bloomington passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born, August 7, 1938 in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bernice Mae (Wilson) Gardner.
Shirley was a Certified Public Accountant practicing until just a few months ago. She was a charter member of the Monroe County High Hopes Extension Club. She was a member of the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, the Greene County Chapel United Methodist Church, and she served as secretary/treasurer for numerous organizations throughout the years.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed sewing, embroidery, interior decorating, gardening and watching and attending Indiana University athletics.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Fred Watkins, children, Brian Watkins (Lisa) of Bloomfield, Brad Watkins (Paula) of Ellettsville, and Yvonne Freeman (Mark) of Bloomington, grandchildren, Erica Boomsma, Jennifer Mann (Jason), Jason Watkins (Elyshia), Jeremy Watkins, Jake Watkins, Zach Watkins, Bradley Watkins, Kory Kleinow, Reece Freeman (Ashliee), Logan Freeman (Kelsey), Ryan Freeman, and Lacee Freeman, 11 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Joan Gardner, niece, Dianna Stapleton (Dexter), and nephew, Doug Gardner.
Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Gardner.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Monday, November 16, 2020 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel with Ray New officiating. Burial will follow at Lowder Cemetery in Springville.
