All of us who had the privilege of knowing Mary had a very special place in our hearts for her. She was part of "the greatest generation" and that shone through with nearly everything she did. Although she faced adversity early in life, she somehow overcame those circumstances to become a strong, determined, accomplished woman with a warm heart and ever ready smile. When Gary and I retired and moved to Bloomington in 2014, Mary took us under her wing and welcomed us to family gatherings. And as time went on, I realized that she had truly become a great friend whose perspective on life was something I would treasure. You could always count on the unvarnished truth from her, never attempting to be anything other than herself. More than anything else, Mary was the mother of four sons, and I can't recall a single visit when she didn't mention them. From everything I knew of Mary, she was a firecracker -- a real dynamo wrapped in a small package. We will always have nothing but loving thoughts of her. May you rest in eternal peace, Mary! - Your friends, Patty & Gary Uffman
