Kathy Elaine (Hueston) Perry, 70, of Bloomington passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Kathy was born on October 4, 1950 in Bloomington, to James Edward and Judith Ann (Wampler) Hueston. In her final days, Kathy requested her daughter’s assistance in writing down her final thoughts.
Kathy has felt blessed in many ways, in Kathy’s words: “My first memory is riding on the back of a motorcycle with my dad headed toward Self’s Country Kitchen in Harrodsburg. My first blessing in life was marrying my husband Randy. My second blessing in life was when my daughter Erin was born. My third blessing was when Bobby came into our lives and married Erin. My fourth blessing was when Noah (my little man) was born and my fifth blessing was when Maci (my little lady) was born.” Kathy also expressed that she was blessed with having God in her life and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Kathy also expressed her love for her long time best friend, Marcia and many friends and family. Kathy’s truest happiness came from her family, specifically her grandchildren. Her interests included sewing, yarning, and most importantly being Mammie to Noah and Maci.
A word from Kathy’s daughter: “I’ve put my mom through a lot over the years. I was a tough teenager to deal with, and even in my 20’s. But, mom’s love never wavered. She has always had my back, always. Odds are if I didn’t like someone 20 years ago she still doesn’t like them. She has been my biggest cheerleader, my biggest fan. She and dad have always expressed how proud they are and how I can do anything I set my mind to. Never once did I doubt mom’s love for me. Never once did I go without, even though I’m sure mom and dad did. This past year has been a tough one on our family. It has been frustrating at times as well, but it has also been a blessing. I’m grateful to you, mom, for everything. I’m so, so grateful. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without you and dad. It has been an honor and my privilege to be by your side this past year. I’m grateful that God chose you to be my mom and it has been one of my greatest blessings to have you as my best friend as an adult. I don’t know how to live in this world without you in it, but I do know this with all of my heart- you’ll continue to be with me and our family for the rest of our lives. I will continue to honor you and your memory and I’ll see you again someday. I love you.”
Kathy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Randall R. Perry; her daughter, Erin (Perry) Ainsworth, son-in-law (whom she called her son) Robert Ainsworth; grandchildren, Noah James and Maci Lyn; step-granddaughter, Brianna Murphy (Connor) and step-great-grandchildren, Hensley and Kolson; her best friend of over 50 years, Marcia Boyle’ and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy has requested donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. This was an organization that was near and dear to her heart.
The family would like to thank southern care hospice for their kind and compassionate care. We wouldn’t have made it through this without you. You made sure Kathy had the care, comfort, support, and most importantly, the dignity that she deserved.
The family will receive friends 5-7pm Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard in Bloomington. There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.

Randy & Erin,
Our hearts are saddened by the loss of Kathy, but our hearts are also filled with many wonderful memories of her & your family.

When we saw her pictures with her big smile our thoughts drifted to her distinct giggle we so enjoyed.

She spent time with me & my sister Kim (her younger cousins) treating us to Cincinnati Reds Games & sharing the delight of getting a shake from Steak & Shake or White Castle Hamburgers before those restaurants were in Bloomington. Fun times!

I always remember her crafting or yarning even on her breaks at work. She always kept her hands busy with the next project she was working on.

One item I have & will always treasure she gave me was an angel pin she crafted from pasta. Unless you look very close you would never know the source of the material it was crafted from as Kathe had such attention to detail with her work...down to the glitter she placed on the wings to allow it to shine when worn.

She also brought Randy into our family who we adore as we do Erin & her family.

Please know we are here for you all. Sending comfort & love your way during this time & always.

Love you-Deb & Jack Morrison

I am so very sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. I have no doubt that Erin was of great comfort to her in her final hours. I have a wonderful memory of sharing a thanksgiving meal in Brown County with Kathy and mammaw . Prayers for healing for Randy and the whole family. GOD bless.

I did not know Kathy. However, I remember Randy from high school. Her daughter's words, in this obituary, were such a beautiful tribute to her mother. My condolences to all of you. Cheryl Kuster Jenkins

So sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. I always enjoyed stopping by the health office at Jackson Creek for a chat about our kids. She was always so thoughtful in asking about Patrick, and I loved keeping up with Erin and her growing family. I could tell that being a grandma was one of her greatest joys.

Dear Randy, Erin and family, I am so sorry to hear this. My prayers are with you and your family. Kathy and I had some good times back in High School and then later after High School. We lost track of each other after I moved out of Bloomington and later I started working at the Airport. Time just flew by so fast too. I know though that I will get to see her again in Heaven. May God Bless each and everyone of you during this time.
