Obituary for Kathy Elaine (Hueston) Perry
Kathy Elaine (Hueston) Perry, 70, of Bloomington passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Kathy was born on October 4, 1950 in Bloomington, to James Edward and Judith Ann (Wampler) Hueston. In her final days, Kathy requested her daughter’s assistance in writing down her final thoughts.
Kathy has felt blessed in many ways, in Kathy’s words: “My first memory is riding on the back of a motorcycle with my dad headed toward Self’s Country Kitchen in Harrodsburg. My first blessing in life was marrying my husband Randy. My second blessing in life was when my daughter Erin was born. My third blessing was when Bobby came into our lives and married Erin. My fourth blessing was when Noah (my little man) was born and my fifth blessing was when Maci (my little lady) was born.” Kathy also expressed that she was blessed with having God in her life and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Kathy also expressed her love for her long time best friend, Marcia and many friends and family. Kathy’s truest happiness came from her family, specifically her grandchildren. Her interests included sewing, yarning, and most importantly being Mammie to Noah and Maci.
A word from Kathy’s daughter: “I’ve put my mom through a lot over the years. I was a tough teenager to deal with, and even in my 20’s. But, mom’s love never wavered. She has always had my back, always. Odds are if I didn’t like someone 20 years ago she still doesn’t like them. She has been my biggest cheerleader, my biggest fan. She and dad have always expressed how proud they are and how I can do anything I set my mind to. Never once did I doubt mom’s love for me. Never once did I go without, even though I’m sure mom and dad did. This past year has been a tough one on our family. It has been frustrating at times as well, but it has also been a blessing. I’m grateful to you, mom, for everything. I’m so, so grateful. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without you and dad. It has been an honor and my privilege to be by your side this past year. I’m grateful that God chose you to be my mom and it has been one of my greatest blessings to have you as my best friend as an adult. I don’t know how to live in this world without you in it, but I do know this with all of my heart- you’ll continue to be with me and our family for the rest of our lives. I will continue to honor you and your memory and I’ll see you again someday. I love you.”
Kathy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Randall R. Perry; her daughter, Erin (Perry) Ainsworth, son-in-law (whom she called her son) Robert Ainsworth; grandchildren, Noah James and Maci Lyn; step-granddaughter, Brianna Murphy (Connor) and step-great-grandchildren, Hensley and Kolson; her best friend of over 50 years, Marcia Boyle’ and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy has requested donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. This was an organization that was near and dear to her heart.
The family would like to thank southern care hospice for their kind and compassionate care. We wouldn’t have made it through this without you. You made sure Kathy had the care, comfort, support, and most importantly, the dignity that she deserved.
The family will receive friends 5-7pm Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard in Bloomington. There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
