Obituary for Anna Mae Buskirk

Anna Mae Buskirk went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2021. She is now reunited with her husband Clifford who passed this past Christmas night. They were married for over 72 years and we believe Anna passed away due to a broken heart.

Anna was the daughter of Dexter and Lettie (Breeden) Sparks. She was born March 15, 1929 in Greene County. She was a graduate of Solsberry High School. She married Clifford Odell Buskirk on November 27, 1948. Anna was a lifetime member of the Greene County Chapel Church where she served on several committees, taught Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School over the years. She loved organizing and presiding over the Chapels annual fish fry.

Anna worked several years at RCA, retiring in 1986. She loved working in her garden and loved helping her husband on the farm that they owned for over 50 years. She was very much an outdoor lady. She loved her family and would do anything for them.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clifford, brothers Hollis Sparks, Joseph Sparks, Herb Sparks (Mary), Austin (infant) and brother-in-law Herb Martindale.

Anna is survived by son Bill Buskirk (Lana), granddaughter Selena Buskirk (Ralph Groomer), grandson C.J. Buskirk (Leann), great granddaughters, Abby Buskirk, Anna Buskirk, great grandson Hayden Groomer, and sister Mildred Martindale. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as great and great great nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Dr. William Schmalz and his staff for their great care for Anna over the years and also to Hearthstone Health Campus for their tender care during Anna’s last days.

Visitation will be Wednesday January 20 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Greene County Chapel Church with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm. C.J. Buskirk (grandson) and Robert Martindale (nephew) will preside. Graveside services will follow at Green County Chapel Cemetery. Covid protocols will be in place and masks will be required.
