Obituary for Paul David Messel

Paul D. Messel passed away early Sunday morning, March 14th, surrounded by his family. He was born October 5, 1944, in Bloomington, he was the third child of William and Hallie Messel. Paul married Betty Elliott on January 16, 1965 and they had two daughters, Tina and Penny.
Paul began working as a painter at the Graham Hotel in downtown Bloomington. He moved on to work at Sieco in Bloomington and Commonwealth Systems in Greenwood. Much of his career was spent working for Rogers Building Supply and Rogers Group, Inc. Paul retired in 2012.
Paul is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Messel. His daughter, Tina Messel-Tracy and her husband, Kevin Tracy. Grandchildren, Rebecca Hewins, Nick Chandler and Miranda Hewins. Daughter, Penny Messel-Jefferies and her husband, John Jefferies. He is also survived by his sister, Marilynn Hawkins and her husband, Ron Hawkins. Niece, Tam Hawkins; niece, Teresa Hawkins-Kessler and her husband, Bob Kessler. Great-nephew, Ian Kessler. Also surviving, his brother, Jerry Messel, niece, Jerri Goodwin and her husband, Bob Goodwin. Great-nephew, Brody Goodwin. He was preceded in death by his parents.
