Obituary for Gary Del Van Pelt

Gary Del Van Pelt, 70, of Bloomington passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Born October 22, 1950 in Bloomington, he was the son of Delmar and Ruth (Bowlen) Van Pelt.
He married Connie Rogers on August 8, 1970 and she survives.
Gary worked at RCA until it closed. Following his passion for fishing he opened Gary’s Fishing Service, where he offered guided fishing on Lake Monroe. He also loved to hunt, attend fishing tournaments and spend time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Connie; daughter, Christa (Ernest) Turpin; sister, Imogene Burpo; six grandchildren, Cody, Tasha, Trevor, Savanna, Jesse and several step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Braelyn, Aaliyah, Adriana; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jesse Van Pelt; grandson, Tyler Van Pelt; and a sister, Bernadine Wright.
Visitation will be 11-1 on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47401.
A graveside service will take place at 1PM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Clear Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to a charity of your choice in Gary’s memory.
