Rebecca J. “Becky” Koons, 91 of Stanford passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the IU Health Hospice House. Becky was born April 12, 1930 in Unionville and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Minnie (Adkins) Boshears. She was a graduate of Unionville High School and retired from RCA.
Becky loved being outdoors and working in her garden and loved all kinds of animals. She loved kids and was a caregiver to many.
Becky is survived by her grandson, Larry Justin “LJ” Koons; nieces, Vicki Hardy, Reba Thomas, Linda Baker, Rita Robinson, and Sharon Davis; and nephews, Junior Boshears, Ronnie Boshears, Stephen Boshears, Gerald Boshears, John Boshears, Rick Carmichael, and Steve Carmichael along with many great nieces and nephews.
Becky was preceded in death by her son, Larry Koons, parents, Elmer and Minnie Boshears; sisters, Mary Carmichael and Linnie Richardson; and brothers, Phillip Boshears, Onva Boshears, and Clifford Boshears.
Services for Becky will be 1:00 pm Monday, May 10, 2021 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard. Her nephew, Onva “Junior” Boshears will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be LJ Koons, Clint Conard, Jake Conard, Chris Hollingsworth, Amanda Barridge and Danielle Thomas.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Becky’s memory to the Monroe County Humane Association.
