Gary D. McGriff, age 72, of Bloomington, Indiana and formerly of Muncie, Indiana, spent his last hours surrounded by family and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. Gary was born on November 23, 1948 in Muncie, Indiana to John and Lois (MacKinnon) McGriff. Gary graduated from Muncie Central High School, and served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He later received an Associate’s Degree from Ball State University and was a member of the Carpenters Union. Gary retired from GM (New Venture Gear) in Muncie. He was an avid sailor and was a member of the Muncie Sailing Club for many years. He also enjoyed snow skiing, fishing, canoeing, and travelling, and he was an excellent artist and wood worker. Gary was a very proud father and grandfather. His family meant the world to him and he loved spending time with them.
Gary is survived by his wife, Lori (Bricker) McGriff; daughter, Meredith A.E. McGriff (Thomas DeCarlo); grandchildren, Miles and Riley DeCarlo; sister, Linda Wysong (Mike); nephew, Graham Wysong; mother-in-law, Loretta Bricker; sister-in-law, Kathy Bricker; brother-in-law, Andy Bricker; niece, Hannah Brantley (Dakota); and nephew, Ross Bricker.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, James Bricker.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
