Obituary for Nola L. Axsom

Nola L. (Hawkins) Axsom, 92, of Bloomington passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at IU Health Bloomington.
Nola was born August 28, 1928 in Monroe County, Indiana and was the daughter of James Walter and Mary Florence (Vaught) Hawkins. Nola attended Sanders School. She worked at Leonard’s Linen Service and retired in 1990.
Nola was of the Pentecostal Faith all her life and was a member of Victory Worship Center in Smithville, IN. She was a former member of The Old Country Church in Harrodsburg, IN. Nola loved attending church and spending time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Nola is survived by her daughter Brenda J. (Ray) Grubbs of Bloomington, son Gary W. (Joyce) Axsom of Bloomington; grandchildren Lisa (Joseph) Prince and Loretta Grubbs of Bloomington and Larry (Lori) Grubbs of Kentucky. Great grandchildren Donald (Ashley) Webster, Joseph (Krystal) Prince, James (Samantha) Prince, Jessica (Bradley) Brown, Jennifer Grubbs and Davis Tursany. Great-great grandchildren Shyann Webster, Dillon Webster, Drew McCullough, Abigail Prince, Kenzie Prince, Colton Imhausen, Jacob Prince, Jace Prince and Rowen Brown.; several nieces and nephews plus many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Walter and Mary (Vaught) Hawkins, husband Ernie Axsom, three brothers Earl, Lloyd and Delmar Hawkins, four sisters Christina Young, Zelma Workman, Marie Honeycutt and twin sister Ola Axsom.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the Funeral Chapel of Powell & Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington with Rev. Justin Raines and Brother Fred Stanger officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Ebal Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m., until time of service at the Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Worship Center in her memory.
