Obituary for Bud Jack Vaught

Bud Jack Vaught, 83, of Bloomington passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the IU Health Hospice House with his family at his side.

Bud was born December 19, 1937 in Bloomington and was the son of the late William Harrison Vaught and Nellie Virginia (Lee) Johnson. Bud graduated from Bloomington High School with the Class of 1955 and was a member of the Army Reserve. Bud worked for 20 + years at Sarkes Tarzian, Thomas and Betts and later retired from Kirby Risk. Bud was a member of Free Methodist Church and enjoyed horse racing, music, football and all IU sports. His grandkids were the apple of his eye and his pride and joy.

Bud married Helen Ann (Hill) Vaught on November 24, 1961 and they enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage. Helen survives along with their two children, daughter, Carol (Fred) Smith of Aurora, CO; son Geoff Vaught of Bloomington; 3 grandchildren, Joshua Bock, Taleah Vaught and Mykenna Vaught; and one great grandson, Javon Patterson Jr. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William H. Vaught II and sister, Peggy Sparks.

Visitation for Bud will be on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington and from 11 am until service time on Friday.

Services will be 1:00 pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel with Pastor Les Rovenstine officiating. Burial will follow the service at Walkers Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations in Bud’s memory may be given to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
