Obituary for Dorothy Ellen Quimby

Dorothy Ellen Quimby, 90, of Bloomington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the IU Health Hospice House.

Dorothy was born June 3, 1931 in Lawrence County, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Albert and Beada (Evans) Patton. Dorothy was a graduate of Bloomington High School and worked at the RCA Credit Union as a Bookkeeper. Church and family were most important to Dorothy. She was a member of Cincinnati Christian Church where she was involved with the Women’s Missionary Society, Youth Group Leader, and she taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.

Dorothy married the love of her life and husband of 71 years, Harrel Quimby on June 16, 1950 and he survives along with their children; Kathleen Quimby, Chris (Cynthia) Quimby and David (Cathy) Quimby; sister, Alberta Sparks; 3 grandchildren: Matthew (Stephanie) Quimby, Christa (David) Snyder, and Garron Quimby; and 5 great grandchildren: Ryan, Noelle, Vivienne, Caroline and Gabriel, and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Patton and sister, Cora Elizabeth Young.

Visitation for Dorothy will be on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Cincinnati Christian Church, 11432 W. State Road 54, Bloomfield and on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 10 am until service time.

Services will be on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11 am at the church with Pastors Troy Borst and Charles Evans Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Cincinnati Christian Church Missionary Fund.
