Obituary for Richard Leo Elgar

Richard Leo Elgar, 89, of Bloomington passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at his
residence surrounded by his family. Richard was born July 3, 1932 in Bloomington and was the
son of the late Frank Hays and Mary (Elgar) Chaney.

Richard was a Veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the Korean War. He retired
from RCA where he was a Maintenance Foreman. He was a member of the Stanford Baptist
Church, and the Model A Club.

Richard married Sharon (Beam) Elgar and she survives along with his children, Richard
(Christina) Eller, Vanessa Shirley, Richard Brian (Kerry) Elgar, Jon Elgar and Carol (Wayne)
Hockensmith. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kristina Francis, Jared Shirley, Seth Elgar,
Rebekah Shirley Fields, Tiffany Hockensmith, Zachary Elgar, Peter Eller, Levi Elgar, and Luke Elgar;
great grandchildren, Devin Moss, Jayden Shirley, Brody Francis, Justin Shirley, Kaden Francis and
Sarah Shirley; and his sister Ann Chaney.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother William Nicely.
Graveside services for Richard will be 11 am Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Valhalla Memory
Gardens.

There will be no visitation.
