Janice Arlene Clinch was born at home in Solsberry Indiana to father, Glenn and mother, Fern Breeden and has a sister Jean. Jan attended grade schools in Solsberry and then Bloomington, Indiana and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1956. Her high school class has stayed close throughout the years.
Janice married George Abbott in 1957 and they have two children, son, Gary and daughter, Diane. Gary is married to Jane and they have daughter, Kara, son, Eric and daughter, Kayla. Kara has son, Logan, Eric and partner, Mollie, Kayla is married to Cam Patterson they have sons, Everett and Jonah. Diane is married to David Klumpp and have daughter, Chelsea and partner, Alex Bryantseva, and son, Miles and partner, Madyson.
Janice grew up with loving parents, Glenn and Fern Page Breeden and many Aunts and Uncles who have all passed on. Janice and her sister, Jean Kelley, were always close, and they talked and visited each other often. The sisters and husbands traveled and did many things together while Jean’s husband, Ted was living. Her cousins stayed close through the years on both sides of the family. Larry Byers, Carolyn Gray, Herbert Breeden, Howard Breeden, Julie Dishman, Sharon Agnew, Erwin Breeden, and Susan Fauver on the Breeden side and Patricia McClean, Evelyn Lafollette, Cyril Page and David Page with Linda Woods and John Page passing on the Page side. Janice loved all of her family and she organized and cherished family reunions.
Janice married Edward Clinch in 1988 and welcomed step daughter, Monique, step daughter, Jeannette and step son, Edward M to her life. Monique is married to Sascha Bortt and has three children, daughter, Sydney, step daughter, Victoria and son, Riley. Jeannette has five daughters, Amanda is married to Dallas Housley and daughter, Aubree, Lorinda and son, Boston, Sarah is married to Dana Seely, Naomi, and Rebecca. Edward M. is married Jennifer and they have five children, daughter, Journay, daughter, Madhya, son, Edmund, son, Kaleel and daughter, Belen.
Janice had a tremendous love for flowers, plants, and animals. Throughout the years Janice poured her heart into the care of her pets, especially Sandy our dog. Janice loved walking over ten thousand steps per day to be surrounded by nature. Janice’s talents were endless; she had a degree in Nursing, and an Associate’s Degree in computer programing. Janice spent years doing intensive genealogy and composed over 40 volumes of photo albums, stories and history to share with her family. Janice found her calling working at the IU Main Library, volunteering as a hospice worker, delivering food to the elder community through Meals On wheels, donating over fifty-five pints of blood to the Red Cross, Librarian at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, and Librarian and Publisher of the newsletter for Sherbrooke Place.
Janice’s love for walking and exploring nature took her to the surrounding trails of Monroe County, Yellowwood State Forest, Brown County State Park, Griffy Lake, McCormick Creek State Park, Edinburgh Scotland, London England, Paris and Amie France. Jan especially loved walking Sherbrooke Place where she lived, waving hello to all her neighbors and petting every dog that she encountered.
Janice was a pure angel of kindness, compassion, and generosity. She only recognized the goodness in people and her legacy of love will forever be in our hearts.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, December 13, 2021 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 100 State Road 46 Bloomington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM following visitation at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Family requests no flowers, and in lieu, prefers you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
