Mary Edith Young, age 92, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away at Hearthstone Health Campus on Thursday, April 21, 2022. She was born on November 25, 1929 in Bloomington to Cecil and Lucy (Wetzel) Wampler. First and foremost, Mary was a homemaker. She graduated from University High School in 1947. Mary was very active at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, where she was a longtime member. Mary was one of the founding members of Stone Belt. She enjoyed the Shamrock Home Economics Club, gardening with her late husband, Marion, and cooking big meals for church and her family. Mary loved her family dearly.
Mary is survived by her sons, Steve Young (Connie) and Greg Young (Karen), daughter, Julie Fairfield, grandchildren, Andy, Nathan (Cayla), Kyle (Britney), Joshua (Jana) and Jacob (Jerusha) Young, and Jackson and Eli Fairfield, great-grandchildren, Ruby, Oliver, Owen, Emmitt, Sawyer, Mabel, Eliza, Eva, Eldon, and Brinley Young, brother, Fredrick Wampler, sister, June Hendricks (Donald), and a large extended family.
Mary was preceded in death by her daughter, Ava Jane Young, husband of 66 loving years, Marion, and parents.
Visitation for Mary will be from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, 2700 E. Rogers Road Bloomington, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at Sherwood Oaks. Tom Ellsworth will be conducting the service, with grandson, Jacob Young also speaking.
All are welcome to attend the graveside service at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 29 at Unionville Cemetery.
