Obituary for Ray Whitney Salmon

Ray Whitney Salmon, age 73, passed away at Seasons Accent Care in Cumming, Georgia on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Ray was born on June 15, 1948 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Billy Ray Salmon and Margaret (Heffelfinger) Carpenter. Ray graduated from University High School before attending Indiana University. Ray was a member of First Methodist Church, Optimist International Club, and the Boy Scouts. His career consisted of sales with Salmon Mobile Homes, AAA Spa, Teledyne Laars, and RW Storage.

Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia “Pat” Ann (Headley) Salmon, daughters, Karen Salmon and Shelli Altemeyer (Stuart), grandson, Grey Altemeyer, brothers, Barry Salmon (Mary) and Glen Salmon (Susan), nephew, Scott Salmon (Kristen), niece Jessica Fortes (Cameron), great-niece Elaine “Ellie”, and sister-in-law Pamela (Headley) Leibowitz (Art). And, preceded in death by cousin Ross Howe (Judy).

Lifelong friends otherwise known as “The Wonder Mothers”, Roger Watkins (Sally), Michael Lavender (Bonnie), and preceded in death by Randy Paynter, Mike Roll, Bennie Richardson.

Celebration of life will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
Graveside services will follow the celebration of life at Little Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Unionville.
