Wayne Edward Jones, age 89, of Bloomington, Indiana went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 18, 2022. He was born in Stanford, Indiana on February 2, 1933 to Paul Franklin Jones and Ruby Belle Jolly. Wayne graduated from Bloomington High School and then served from 1951-1955 in the United States Air Force. The following year, Wayne married the love of his life Dee. He worked for 32 years at Westinghouse, retiring at the age of 60. Wayne enjoyed photography, shooting skeet, playing chess, kayaking, camping in the early years, belonging to two camping clubs (Traveling Turtles and Rolling Wheels). Wayne loved having family around, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wayne loved talking to people and never met a stranger.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ina Deloris “Dee” (Bledsoe) Jones, daughters, Charlotte Lynn Slahor (Wayne), Terre Dee Tenpenny, Jennifer Ann Tarter (Gary), and Rachel Michelle Yeatman (Wes), grandchildren, John Fender (Brittney), Kyle Webb, Skye Doyle (partner Adam), and Tyler Yeatman (Brit), and great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Anthony, Trenton, Hailey, Kaitlyn, Arlo, and Keegan.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren, Steven Brown and Patrick “PJ” Tenpenny, brother, Raymond Jones, and sister, Helen Boltinghouse.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Holiday Inn Express hotel (117 S Franklin Dr Bloomington, IN) on Saturday, June 25, 2022. All are welcome to stop by and share a memory with family and friends.
Monroe County Veteran’s Honor Guard will perform military honors at 12:30 PM on Saturday at the American Legion Burton Woolery Post 18, 1800 W. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
