Obituary for William "Bill" Blessing

William Clark Blessing (Bill) passed away on July 11, 2022 following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Chicago IL to Holly and Myrtle (Sisson) Blessing. He grew up with his two brothers and sister in Skokie IL, and graduated from Lake Forest College where he majored in economics and was affiliated with Delta Chi fraternity. It was at Lake Forest where he met the love of his life Betty Binder, and after serving 2 years in the army stationed in Germany, they were married and enjoyed 61 years of marriage until her passing in 2020.

They were blessed with 3 children; Lisa (Dave) Hobbs, Thomas (Aimee) Blessing, and Todd (Laura) Blessing, 7 grandchildren; Danielle (Derek) Bifulco, Nick Hobbs, Josh Hobbs, Connor Blessing, Catherine Blessing, Alexa (Jimmy) Bailey, and Carly Blessing, and 3 great grandchildren; JD, Cole, and Rey Bifulco.

Bill worked at the Harris Bank in Chicago for more than 2 decades, serving as VP in the loan dept. When he grew tired of the corporate world, he and Betty moved to Bedford IN and he got into the rental business with a Taylor Rental franchise in Bloomington IN, then started his own rental company Master Rental, which he owned and operated for nearly 40 years.

Bill enjoyed travelling with his wife, boating, fishing, tennis, reading (especially books about history), and watching IU football and basketball, the Indianapolis Colts, and all the tennis tournaments. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's and great grandchildren's events whenever he could.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his beloved sister Linda Xanthos, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of funeral services and to honor him, we ask that all who wish to participate make a memorial contribution in his name. Please consider these organizations that were close to his heart:
