John “Eddie” Troth, age 80, of Ellettsville, Indiana passed away at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on Friday, August 12, 2022. He was born on June 13, 1942 in Bloomington, Indiana to Frank and Cora (Anderson) Troth. Eddie owned and operated Troth’s Body Shop in Ellettsville for over 20 years. He was a paint and auto body man his whole life. Eddie loved cars, whether it was working on them, racing them, or rebuilding them. His favorite car was the ’39 Chevy Coupe that he rebuilt from the ground up with his son, Tony. He and his wife, Karen (Walls) Troth, attended hundreds of car shows together over the 60 years they were married. Eddie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved his family dearly.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Karen Troth, daughters, Debbie Taylor (Roger) and DaNean Morris (Dave Harmon), grandchildren, Brady, Travis, Levi, Josie, Ella, Libby, Haven, and Daci, great-grandchildren, Sophia, Zoey, Morgan, Mak, Millie, Maci, and Paytin, and former son-in-law, Eric Morris.
Eddie was preceded in death by his son, Tony Troth, parents, brother, Kenny, and sister, Penny.
Visitation for Eddie will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Greene County Chapel Cemetery.
