Obituary for Linda Joyce Mitchner

Linda Joyce Mitchner, age 80, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. She was born on April 23, 1942 in Bloomington to Dewey and Alpha Mae (Dewar) Wood. Linda was married to Randell Mitchner for 60 years. She retired from Cook, Inc. and the City of Bloomington, Parking Enforcement Crossing Guard at Second and High Street. She loved her family and was a good wife, mother, and Mamaw. Linda loved Coca-Cola, driving the Green Hornet Golf Cart, and selling vegetables at her roadside stand. Linda also enjoyed cooking and is known for her famous green beans, homemade salsa, and chocolate pie. Linda always had something prepared to share with others. Linda’s biggest joy though were her grandkids and great-grandkids. They are her and Randell’s pride and joy.
Linda is survived by her husband, Randell Mitchner, son Jeff Mitchner (Teresa), daughter, Tami Mitchner, granddaughter, Sarah Crecelius (Chris), grandson, Jeffrey Mitchner (Jessica), great-grandchildren, Emily Faith, Paislee Joyce, Lucy Jane, Lincoln Owen, and a baby boy in February 2023, sister, Barbara Schoolcraft (Norman), and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, five brother, ten sisters, and Fur Grandson, Mookee.
Per Linda’s wishes, she will be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned later this fall.
Donations may be made to the Bloomington Hospice House and the Monroe County Humane Society.
