Obituary for Beverly A. (Jolly) Deckard

Beverly A. Jolly Deckard, 80, passed away Monday September 5, 2022 at her home.

Born June 4, 1942, she was the oldest daughter of William H. and Bernice Abram Jolly. She was a graduate of Bloomington High School, and she attended Indiana University. She was a member of the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and past president of the Solsberry American Legion Post 450 Ladies Auxiliary.

She worked for Moore’s Fiesta as a waitress, Schmalz’s Department store in their sales and bookkeeping department, Bloomington District office of the South Indiana United Methodist Church, North Central Association for Schools and Colleges and worked 31 years until her retirement for CFC Inc. in residential and commercial accounts department.

Beverly married James D. Deckard on June 16, 1960 in which they were very active at the Greene County Chapel United Methodist Church.

Beverly enjoyed maintaining her property, gardening and canning, and she loved playing golf and entertaining family and friends in her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James D. Deckard, brother Phillip L. Jolly. Brothers in law Donald F. Deckard, Danny Hawk, Sam Deckard and sister in law Sylvia Haas.

Survivors include her sons Todd and Tim of Solsberry. Grandchildren Megan Parer of Springville, William Prescott of Indianapolis, Kassandra Deckard of New Freedom Pennsylvania and Wesley Deckard of Orleans. Her great granddaughters Leighton and Dallas Deckard of Orleans. Her sister Barbra (Don) Ward of Bloomington. Several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Viewing will be held at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington on Thursday September 8, 2022 from 4-8 pm and on Friday September 9, 2022 from 1-2 pm.
Funeral services will be held at The Funeral Chapel on Friday at 2:00 pm with Pastors Andy Gaschke and Pastor Mark Visser officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Chapel Cemetery.
