Obituary for Mary Lou Ridge

Bloomington- Mary Lou Ridge, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5. She was born on December 21 to Homer and Martha Smith. She worked at the Harris Grand Theater when she was young, where she enjoyed meeting Ella Fitzgerald, Buddy Rich, and other famous people. She also worked at Aldens Department Store on the square. Mary Lou was a member of Simpson Chapel UMC, Kappa Kappa Sigma and the Carpenters Auxiliary No. 258. She was a beloved wife and homemaker. Mary Lou loved animals and volunteered at the Bloomington Animal Shelter.
Mary Lou is survived by daughters, Ann Arbuckle (Skip Chambers), Linda Ridge (Jeff Hasty), and Lisa Stanger; grandchildren, Sean Gober (LaRhonda), Jason Gober, Heather Allen (Greg), and Beth Wright (Terry); 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, James Ridge and son-in-law, Shannon Stanger.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, September 9 at The Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Simpson Chapel Church or the Bloomington Animal Shelter.
