Obituary for Robert B. Hall Jr.

Robert B. Hall Jr. died on Wednesday October 5, 2022 surrounded by his beloved family at The Hospice House. Robert was born in Bloomington on October 27, 1943, son of the late Robert B. and Velma V. (Stidd) Hall. Robert is survived by his wife Diana S. (James) Hall; daughters Stacey D. Hall, Sarah L. Raybourn and her husband Trey, and Susan G. Laughlin and her husband John. He was blessed with four grandsons and four granddaughters. Robert also leaves two brothers: Dennis Hall and his wife Rhonda and David Hall. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by brothers Michael, Dale, and DeWayne Hall.
Robert (Bob) was devoted to family and hard working from an early age. His childhood was marked with assisting the local family business Hall Stone and Lumber. He earned a business degree at Indiana University and acquired CPA and CMA credentials. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 as a non-combat veteran during Vietnam. He was offered an opportunity with the Green Beret but accepted a position working closely with his Colonel on a special research project as a SPC 5. Bob met his wife Diana while both working at Cummins in Columbus, Indiana where they later married and started a family. He accepted a position as an auditing consultant with Arthur Young in Dallas (now known as Earnst & Young) then moved to Florida where he worked as VP of finance at SAWTEK. However his heart always remained in Indiana. He built a home on beautifully wooded acreage that borders state property. He enjoyed being outdoors and would often be found on his tractor, in his workshop, or with his three horses, dogs and cat. Fondly known as Papaw to eight grandchildren, he loved seeing and engaging them with fun activities on the property or simply a hug or smile. He always appreciated a good laugh and often discerned the right and fruitful path. He will always be remembered by his strength, protective ways, big heart, and handsome smile. His presence will be deeply missed.
The family would like to offer a note of appreciation to Rick Lykins and Kris Egan for their dear friendship and help. We also want to recognize Jill’s House, Melissa RN at The Hospice House, Dr. Mackenzie Lupov, Dr. Todd Eads and the many caregivers at IU Health critical care for their devoted time and excellence.
A visitation will be on Sunday October 9 from 1 PM-4 PM at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard. A funeral will be held on Monday October 10 at 1PM at The Funeral Chapel, followed immediately with committal and military honors at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
