Obituary for Joyce Ann Parrish

Joyce Ann (Eads) Parrish, 74, of Bloomington, was called to her eternal home on Monday, October 10, 2022. Her daughter, Kim, lovingly cared for her over the last several years, allowing her to pass peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born August 28, 1948, to the late Orville & Margaret (Palmer) Eads. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Kenneth Dale Parrish, who passed on September 5, 2022; her stepdaughter Kimberly Dale Parrish, sister June (Eads) Payne and brothers Jerry Joe Eads, Rodney Eads, Robert Eads, Phillip Eads, and Richard Eads.

She worked hard her entire life and obtained her GED in her early forties. She worked at Dog & Suds, the Moose Lodge, and Kroger but was most well-known as the owner of Ken’s Westside Shell and Ken’s Westside Service & Towing with her husband, Ken, for 30 years. After retiring in 2012, her son, Kenneth Lee Parrish, proudly continues to grow the family business. She was also a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose ladies auxiliary.

Joyce “Nan” loved her family fiercely. She had a huge heart and cared deeply for others she considered her extended family; she was “Mama Joyce” to many, never hesitating to help those in need. She loved baking, creating beautiful cakes, and ensuring everyone had plenty of sweets during the holidays. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and visiting every casino with her sister, Linda.

She is survived by her sister Linda (Eads) Edwards, and brothers Chris (Alice) Eads, and Jeff Eads, her daughter, Kim Wiley-Taylor, son, Kenneth Lee (Kathy) Parrish, grandsons, Cody (Kayla) Taylor, Tanner (Kari) Taylor, Kenneth Harley Parrish, Gavin Parrish, and great-grandsons, Austyn Taylor, Cooper Taylor, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Joyce will be on Thursday October 13, 2022 from 4-8 pm and Friday October 14, 2022 from 12-1 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard.

Services will be 1:00 pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery.
