Venus E. Abbitt, age 101, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022 at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington. Venus was born on September 8, 1921, to Otis and Lela (Wampler) Mitchell.
Venus was an avid bowler for over 60 years and was a dedicated member of Smithville Christian Church. She was proud co-founder of Stone Belt, and graciously raised five children.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Abbitt, Janette Robertson, Alan Abbitt, Patrick Abbitt and Michael Abbitt; grandchildren, Lisa Douglas, Tamarah Heffner and Jacqi Black; great-grandchildren, Lindsey Stacy, Braydon Abbitt Key, Nathaniel Black, Alyssa Black and Lucas Black; brother, Jerry Mitchell; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Venus was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John F. Abbitt, and sister, Ruth Todd.
Services will be at 12 P.M. Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington with burial to follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Visitation for Venus will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 11 A.M. until service time at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard.
