Obituary for Mary Ann Muckerheide

Mary Ann Muckerheide, 51, of Bloomington went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday December 6, 2022 at the IU Health Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Ann was born February 28, 1971, in Bedford, Indiana and was the daughter of Michael and Sherri (Hutchinson) Alexander. Mary Ann was a 1989 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1993. She then went back to school in her forties and received her Associates Degree from Ivy Tech, and then her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University. Mary Ann worked at Bloomington Hospital for 22 years, the last 7 as a postpartum nurse.

Mary Ann was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church where she enjoyed singing on the Praise Team, her small group and loved her time and fellowship with her Monday women’s bible study group. She also enjoyed reading and doing puzzles.

Mary Ann married Scott Muckerheide on August 5th, 1995, and he survives with their three sons, Matthew, Thomas and Seth. Also surviving are her parents, Michael and Sherri Alexander, maternal grandfather, James Lee Hutchinson, two sisters, Laura (Luke) Aylsworth, and Shannon (Dan) Irmscher, aunt, Susie Hutchinson, two cousins, Lisa (Brent) Dahl and Stacie (Dru) Musunuru, mother-in-law, Martha Muckerheide, sister-in-law, Michelle (Mike) Gable and her beloved puppy, Penny.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Norma June Hutchinson, paternal grandparents, Ralph and Ruth Alexander, and her father-in-law, Ralph Muckerheide.

Services for Mary Ann will be at 2 pm on Monday at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, 2700 E. Rogers Road Bloomington, IN 47401. Shawn Green and Tom Ellsworth will officiate the service with burial to follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-6 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN 47401, and on Monday from 1pm until service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations, in Mary Ann’s name may be given to Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.

Mary Ann’s family would like to thank her Women’s bible study group for their love and support during her illness. The food train and all of their care and love will never be forgotten, and also the IU Health nursing staff for all their support and fundraising efforts.
