Obituary for William "Bill" Schweer
William “Bill” Joseph Schweer, 80, of Solsberry, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Born September 9, 1942, in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of the late Burdette “Burd” and Wilma (Thompson) Schweer.
Bill retired from Otis Elevator after thirty-five years as an engineer. He served our country for two years with serving one year in Vietnam. He was most proud of the day he gave his life to his Lord and Savior on April 22, 1984, where he remained faithful and loyal to Union Church and served as song leader for thirty years and teenage class for several years.
Survivors include his wife for forty-two years Linda (Hudson) Schweer; one son Scott (Robin) Uland; one daughter Sharla (Mike) Bruce; five grandchildren Megan (Zac) Hembree, Ashley (Derek) Beaty, Zachary and Wyatt Bruner, and Sophia Uland; two great-grandchildren Ella and Wayden Beaty; and one brother Richard “Dick” Schweer.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers Don and Bobby Schweer.
A visitation for Bill will be held on Monday January 9 at the Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard from 5 PM - 8PM. An additional hour of visitation will be held Tuesday January 10 at The Funeral Chapel, followed immediately with a funeral service at 11 AM and burial with military honors at Solsberry Cemetery. Curtis Pruett Sr. will officiate.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Bill’s honor to the Veterans Administration.
